Privacy Policy

Effective October 20, 2026

Pacemate (“we,” “us”) is a running and fitness app. This policy explains what information the Pacemate app and our related services collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Pacemate app for iPhone and any other platform where we offer it, and to pacemateapp.com. Pacemate is the “controller” (or “business”) responsible for your personal information.

The short version.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

Information collected when you use the app

Information from other sources

Information we do not collect

2. How we use information

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use your fitness or location data for any purpose other than providing Pacemate to you. We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Run “grades” are calculated on your device from your run against your own goal, purely for your information.

Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on: performance of our contract with you to provide the app, your account, syncing and Premium; your consent for precise location (given through your phone’s permission prompt, which you can withdraw in Settings at any time) and for health-related fitness data where the law treats it as special-category data; and our legitimate interests in keeping Pacemate secure, fixing crashes and improving performance, balanced against your rights. Where we must keep information to comply with law, we rely on legal obligation.

3. Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run Pacemate, only as needed for the service they provide to us, and under contracts or terms that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions. We require these providers to protect your information with the same or equal protection as described in this policy.

If a version of Pacemate is offered on Android, maps on that version are provided by Google Maps, and purchases by Google Play, under their own privacy policies.

We may also disclose information: (a) if required by law, subpoena or other legal process; (b) to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or Pacemate, or to investigate fraud or abuse; (c) with your direction or consent; or (d) to a successor if Pacemate is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

No selling, no “sharing” for ads. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California and other U.S. state laws, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not use your sensitive personal information (such as precise location or account login) for anything other than providing the services you request, so we do not offer a “limit the use” option. Because we do not track you, we treat browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals as already honored.

Aggregated and de-identified information

We may use information that has been aggregated or de-identified so it can no longer reasonably be linked to you (for example, the total number of runs recorded in the app) to understand and improve Pacemate. We maintain it in de-identified form, do not try to re-identify it, and do not sell it.

Cookies and similar technologies

The Pacemate app does not use cookies or advertising trackers. It saves your settings and run history in your phone’s local app storage so the app works offline, and keeps you signed in with a secure session token. Our website, pacemateapp.com, does not use cookies, analytics or tracking pixels.

4. Companion voices

While you run, your companion can speak short updates such as mile splits, pace reminders and encouragement. These voices are AI-generated and are not recordings of real people. All voice clips are created in advance and stored inside the app, so they play on your phone without sending anything about you or your run to a voice or AI provider.

5. How long we keep information

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use and disclose it; access it and get a portable copy; correct it; delete it; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; and not be discriminated against for using these rights. Residents of the EEA, UK and Switzerland may also lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority.

How to make a request. Email support@pacemateapp.com. We will verify your request by confirming it comes from the email address on the account (or by other reasonable means if you don’t have an account). You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof that they are authorized and confirm your identity directly. We respond within 30 days in the EEA and UK and within 45 days elsewhere, and will tell you if we need more time as the law allows. Appeals: if we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing us with “Privacy appeal” in the subject. We will respond to appeals within the time the law requires, and if you are not satisfied you may contact your state attorney general.

Some information about you may count as consumer health data under laws like Washington’s My Health My Data Act. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explains how we handle it and your rights.

Notice for residents of U.S. states with privacy laws

This table summarizes, using the categories defined in California and similar state laws, the personal information we have collected in the past 12 months. For each, the source is you and your device (and, for subscription status, Apple and RevenueCat); we use it for the purposes in Section 2; we disclose it only to the service providers in Section 3 for a business purpose; and we do not sell it or share it for targeted advertising.

We do not collect biometric information, government ID numbers, financial account numbers, or information about race, religion, sexual orientation or similar characteristics, and we do not create inferences or profiles about you.

7. Security

Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest in our database, and access rules in the database allow each account to read and change only its own records. Your subscription status can only be changed by our servers, never from the app. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a breach as the law requires.

8. Children

Pacemate is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Users under 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to use Pacemate and to make any purchase.

9. International transfers

Pacemate is operated from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from yours. When we transfer personal information from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses included in our providers’ data processing terms.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Pacemate changes. We will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, for example a new kind of data or a new use of it, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect and, where required, ask for your consent.
